Pause to Play

Celebrating Play Everyday!

Pause to play week is coming up on April 24-28! We are celebrating by doing a different activity on each day! Each of our activities involve movement and the outdoors. This event is sponsored by my local region, but the principles in this event can be adapted for everyone!
We’ve created a FREE slide show for you to use with your class! Click the link below to access it & don’t forget to …PAUSE TO PLAY!!

We spend so many hours inside, and on our screens- that the pause to play initiative is JUST what our students need at this time of year. This initiative was started by the York Region (which is a neighbouring district to our school district). For more information, you can check out this website. There are different resources, activities and certificates that are available to you for free! Check it out today!

All week our class will be engaging in various play activities to get us outside! Movement Monday is for intentional movement! We are going to set a timer to walk with our class and bring out a clip board and paper to draw some pictures of what we see along our nature walk.

There are a many different things that you can do to get moving even if its a rainy day! You can either get an umbrella and get in the rain, or if you’re not that adventurous- you can do a few movement videos from youtube. Our class also likes to take walks in the school when the weather doesn’t allow us to go outside.

Whatever it is you do, don’t forget to – PAUSE TO PLAY!
