We are being hit with serious spring fever in my classroom, so we had to shake things up!
Of course for ideas to beat spring fever I consulted tik tok, bloggers and instagrammers that I follow for some ideas to beat the dreaded spring fever craziessss…
I saw a cute post about BIRD FEEDERS and decided to go for it! You should’ve seen my students face when I brought all the materials out for the bird feeder, they were so amped!
If you want to make your own easy bird feeder with your students scroll on down!
Ok to be honest, this will get a little messy. So get ready to roll up your sleeves, and have some paper towels ready to go just in case.
I mean every time you work with kids or do an activity with kids, theres a chance that it’ll get messy. Ah, the joys of special ed..
DIY BIRD FEEDER
Put birdseed on a place
Add sun butter to the roll
Roll the roll in the birdseed
Add a hole and tie the string to the top
We brought our bird feeders outside and found a good tree to tie our bird feeder to. Our students picked the perfect tree in our outdoor classroom.
As the week continued, we watched how the birds went for our feed. By the end of the week, our bird feeder needed some replenishing.
We used a large solid roll to make the feeder, so we can easily add more sunflower butter to the feeder to replenish it. Win- win for all, us and the birds!
After this my kiddos were really into birds, naturally, so we did some exploring. We enjoyed listening to this names and sounds videos below. I hope your kiddos enjoy this video as much as we did! We watched it over and over!
We can’t do an inquiry without having some follow up activities. Next, we got into the writing and drawing portion. This package uses a ton of visuals to support independent comprehension of this skill.
